As a young man, I went to church but I always felt like something was missing and that my life was meant for me to do more. As the years went by, I tried to fill the hole in my heart with sports, alcohol, and living for myself. As a man, I always thought that I was in control and that I could fix anything in my life. When my wife and I were expecting our fourth child, a routine doctor visit would change my whole life. The doctor told us that there were concerns with the pregnancy and counseled us to consider aborting the pregnancy. I was completely lost and did not know what to say or do. Where could I find a manual that would tell me how to handle this event in my life? That Sunday I was at church and the Pastor talked about surrendering all to Jesus Christ and about building a relationship with I now understood that it was not enough to simply know the story of Jesus Christ, but that I needed to really know Him and have a personal relationship with Him. That day, I prayed and asked Jesus Christ to be the Lord of my life and my life would be forever changed. The manual that I looked for was the Bible and it had all of the answers that I was looking for. Later, my wife and I listened to a sermon on the Great Commission and she decided to go on her first Mission Trip. The more I thought of her traveling to a foreign country, I decided to go along too and act as "security" and help carry the bags. It was not long before we were on the side of a mountain in Nicaragua, talking to people whose houses were nothing more than 4 posts, a thatch roof, a dirt floor, and cardboard box for their children to sleep in. These amazing people swept the dirt floors for us before we entered their 'homes'. As we walked away from the side of that mountain with tears in our eyes, we knew that we needed to do more. The amount of poverty we witnessed - enough to break your heart - made us realize we needed to do more to reach out and help others. My wife and I established this non-profit charity organization in order to help people raise money for their own Mission Trips and to provide a place where people that felt led to, could donate money toward mission trips to help others. Our goal is to have various products/services available for purchase, with all proceeds being used to fund mission activities, as well as to have events throughout the year to help raise money for Mission work here in Jacksonville and in other countries.
